  Surprisingly slow service today. Usually they are so on the ball and fast. And it wasn't because they were busy as they are always busy but still very fast. Won't deter me from going back though.

  The food is always amazing and well cooked. The portions are large and very reasonably priced for what you get. I have never, in 15 years of going there, had a bad experience.

  Wasn't in the mood for waiting on the pavement outside Jam, John's or the Blue Fox. Have also done time glassed-in the corridor at Spoon's. Floyd's was on a party break and I hadn't tried Jasmine's on the Island Hwy yet-so in we ventured. We're from Langford and often make the pilgrimage in to inner Vic for a 'better take on food' but the ballet of roadwork and the rainy weather put a damper on any kind of Sunday drive. I'm also a keen atmospheric and generally prefer a boutique spot with character featuring healthy plates of guaranteed good-and this place, from the outside-just looked like another Denny's dressed in 'Canadian Asian'. I was right about the ambience but it wasn't detraction enough to spoil the food. It was good. We ordered a benny and your typical eggs, bacon 'n fried potats and it didn't disappoint. My partner has a thing about Hollandaise and Jasmine wrangled a thumb's up. The food was fresh, the carbs a plenty, lighter takes available and endless possibilities for substitutions (without any elaborate diplomatic negotiations). Gluten free options were ample and the serving staff didn't look at me like I was a persnickety allergy agitator. We were situated in a diner bench within hailing distance to the front door and unfortunately had to endure repeated cross-table hollers to new entrants, but it actually started to feel a bit like Cheers-"Norm! How many? Come on in...!" Don't sit near the door if you don't want to be part of the welcoming whoop. This is a family restaurant. It isn't shooting for niche boutique. It's serving up solid, fresh food and it's used to a steady turn-around so you won't be waiting for the chef to twist the garnish. We can recommend this place. Yes, in Colwood. Yes it's got a blue awning..but yes, go in if you need a hearty breakfast served by people who are friendly and efficient.
